2 degree ice art exhibition + Ramen Kagetsu Arashi
Date: Thursday, 6 March 2014 ( 20:28 ) 0 comments

Finally, something exciting in my life~ LOL
Went to the 2Degree Ice Art Exhibition at Marina Bay Sands area (it's just outside the lobby, opposite the taxi stand!) with Suzume, Natsumi and Nanami yesterday!
The experience was pretty fun, thanks to the ice slide they had, and the sculptures were all pretty amazing! Although, $20 for admission was slightly expensive for such a small exhibition. But it's Singapore yo, imagine the bills to keep the interior at -15 degree Celsius!
We entered at around 3plus, maybe 3:30pm? And stayed there for over an hour until "snowfall".
Honestly, their site contains too little information for certain things, somehow I think it's really "making themselves sound exciting/interesting by omitting certain information" kind of ploy. The snowfall was only at a certain area near the slide, and it was very, very small. And of course, the snow was really fake (it was just shaved ice, to put it plainly, but that's the best SG can get I suppose). It lasted for about 5minutes.

I wore tights with a skirt that day (because SG is so bloody hot, I'd rather shiver than perspire yo) and my butt was freezing after playing on the slide LOL.

Anyway, the costs for entering the exhibition is on their website. Student rate on weekdays is $20. AND important: You have to rent the winter coat for $5. Yea, so bring your own coat if you have one, or maybe pack a thicker jacket if you want. Especially if you plan on taking photos because um, no way I'd be caught dead in that. It's not ugly, per se, but I don't like padded jackets. And if you're cheapskate, like me. $5 can feed me a few meals at work y'knowww. And I felt really caught off-guard because NOTHING was stated about the coat rental on the website; I clicked like everywhere just exploring the site and not once did they mention the coats. So yea. I actually wore a t-shirt with a cardigan that day so I just went in like that. -15deg is like Korean ski mountain at night anywayyyy. *flips hair* By the way, they'll give you a pair of gloves for free.

So, after freezing in the exhibition for about an hour, we went out to a small food court-like place (had 2 food stalls, 1 drink), slacked (trying to warm up) and ate a bit before deciding to go to Ramen Kagetsu to try their new (limited run) Dry Curry Itameshi~ The nearest restaurant was at The Cathay, so there we headed~

I've been to Kagetsu 2 times already before, and their ramen is lovely. We reached there just after 6pm, and I guess it's not really popular with the crowd that frequents The Cathay, because we sat there until 7-ish, and it was still pretty empty (while maki-san and Popeyes were bustling). Initially we went with the intention to try the Itameshi, but I remembered they had the new-launch Ginjiro ramen which I wanted to try, so I ordered that, and Suzume ordered their Genkotsu Karabara (spicy miso) ramen! Natsumi ordered the intended itameshi while Nanami was just koping food lol.

I didn't dare try Suzume's ramen because both Suzume and Nanami said it was really spicy (Suzume was perspiring towards the end of her bowl!) but I tried abit of Natsumi's itameshi, and it was not bad! Not spicy even though it's a curry, not really much curry taste actually. The Ginjiro ramen was not bad, the chashu was really nice too! As usual, they provide a variety of condiments and seasoned veges (something like leek kimchi) and a jug of iced water! I love places that serve water for free.
Kagetsu is actually pretty affordable for such a good ramen place, and they have a weekday lunch (11:30-2:30pm) set which makes it even better! Actually their standard ramen you can also choose the soup base, shio and miso (just fyi)
Our total was $49.10 for 3 people, with itameshi being $12.90, Ginjiro $13.90 and Genkotsu Karabara $14.90 (I think).

So that's it for my Wednesday~ for those wanting to experience some chill, go ahead and splurge; for anyone looking for nice ramen, Kagetsu has 3 outlets at The Star Vista (btw, Menya Musashi is there too, their tsukemen is damn nice), The Cathay, and Tampines 1!

Appeared on Hello Japan programme, Hello Tokyo last weekend!
Date: Friday, 14 February 2014 ( 01:44 ) 0 comments

I'm so lazy to blog that I have such a long backlog I just forget about it already. /hit

SO! Pika Pika Meido Cafe was invited to appear on Hello Japan's anniversary programme, Hello Tokyo's 1st episode on 09 Feb 2014. We were all very excited about it as we didn't expect such an invitation!! Usually we get invites for events.
The show was to be broadcasted live, and there was a meet-up discussion with the client(?), the director of a talents management company Future Stage.

But if you caught the show last week, you would have noticed that the only Pika meido who was on the whole show was Terumi. And she actually wasn't invited as Pika Meido, but more of cosplayer/writer for Cute~POP~ orz

Yeaaaa. There was a few other discussions and change of plans and stuff, and so it ended up being the host (Ms Benedict), Vincent from Cute~POP~ and Terumi for the most part of the show.

Somehow after some more discussion, the show decided to let 2 meidos from Pika appear and talk briefly. Yes, it ended up being very very brief until I couldn't understand the point of having us on the show orz If I were watching as a normal audience, honestly, I won't understand why there was 2 last minute guests who were just. like. No intro whatsoever and then appear, then show the Idol Cafe performance, then after that back to the guests, but it wasn't focusing on the guests.
And also, were Vincent and Terumi also guests, or considered hosts as well??

Yes, very confused.

But anyway, it was a good experience, although the waiting hours were kind of boring because there wasn't anything to do but hey we weren't the only ones and also there was a TV in the reception/lounge but we didn't know if we could turn that on or what (or else I would have watched the show while it was broadcasting!)
The staff were all very nice people. Very lovely people and the guys were really good-looking yes. (oi)

After the filming wrapped up and we changed and all, Ringo and I headed to Bugis Street to have ramen at Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King Four Seasons! I went there once previously with Natsumi, and had their winter special, miso and oyster ramen. It was delish and it was really good so I wanted to go there again and try the other seasons.
So this time I had the autumn bowl, which was miso pork! It was also very delish~

Well, so concludes my Sunday. It's Valentine's Day today, but I shan't acknowledge that! It's Tatara's birthday, okay! lol

I recently bought fabric for my upcoming coses, and I need to buy new needles and thread orz heading to Spotlight tomorrow as I have a $10 voucher to use!

Cosfest Christmas / GE3
Date: Friday, 10 January 2014 ( 14:00 ) 0 comments

Hello!

So I spent my last weekend of 2013 at Cosfest Christmas and GE3 (for work)!
I went to Cosfest Christmas on 28 Dec (for the Cosplay Running Man!).
Had to report at 10:45am to register, then return later for the start of the event. At around 1plus, they began the random allocation of team members for the running man. They had a box with coscards and cards written with the cosplayers' names for those without coscards, submitted during registration. And the group leaders will just pick out one card at a time.

AND.
I got into YUEGENE FAY's group! So lucky! :D I've been a fan of her since 2008, when I first got into subculture, and my friend introduced YUEGENE's cosplay to me. Really happy to be able to see her in person and even take a photo and I GOT HER COSCARD homg.

So anyway, the cosplay running man had a bunch of missions and different amount of points are given for each mission completed and basically we choose which ones to do and had to take a group photo w every mission completed and upload on Cosfest's FB.
It was very fun. Though I kind of felt sorry(?), bad? for the regular shoppers in Bugis+ who were all definitely very bewildered by the cosplayers running around the mall.
JOJO was also very popular, and there were a few missions where you needed to do JOJO poses lol. There was one where you had to hold a JOJO pose (I think it's Jotaro's? the lean back with one hand pointing forward) for 45 seconds. My abs hurt later that night and I'm very sure it's bc of JOJO pose.

YUEGENE is a really friendly and nice person. Yup. Really like her. Hahas.
Also made a few friends at the event (my group mates la lol).

After the event, I had a short shoot for casual Saru (oh yeah, I went for the event in Fushimi Saruhiko cosplay) for a friend who just got to borrow a LEICA and decided to try it out. It was fun~
Also bumped into Shin that day, and he went around shooting people w a NERF gun. I got hit in the face below the lips. OW. And apparently he managed to hit a few other people too. (Sigh)

---------------------------
GE3!
So the next day, I had work with PIKA PIKA Maid Cafe. Basically, we were hired to be quest givers for their side quest during the event, where visitors had to complete a few tasks on this pamphlet they could get from the entrance or any one of us.
Upon completion of the quest, we gave them a stamp and different amount of stamps can award them different rewards!
We also had an exclamation headband to wear, lol, like an NPC indeed. It was a good experience, got to try out some of the quests myself!

It was a fulfilling weekend indeed! December was a very busy month for me but I had a lot of fun.

PIKA PIKA Maid Cafe
Date: Monday, 19 August 2013 ( 22:34 ) 0 comments

Annyeong! (um ya I like to say that)
Yesterday, (18 Aug/Sun) PIKA PIKA Maid Cafe held their first full maid cafe event at *scape WAREHOUSE, co-organised by COSMO! My friends are the PIKA PIKA meido-san and they asked me to help out at their merchandise booth that day! Along with an acquaintance, Mirai's handsome boyfriend, Jimu!
As I was working at the merchandise booth, I wasn't expecting to take photos or videos, so I didn't bring my camera out, so I have nothing to offer for this entry. m(_ _)m
The event was filled with performances, by the PIKA PIKA meido and also guest performers were invited, thanks to EOY! Wotaroid was also there to support the performances with wotagei off-stage and they were really zai. This is their Facebook page, do check them out:

There were stage games and lively emcee-ing by Mika and Ringo as well. Mika and Ringo really bicker alot wwww Jimu calls them a stand-up comedy lolol. Of course, those who know them understand that this is how they communicate!
Many people took videos of the performances, so I guess they will be posted on PIKA PIKA's Facebook page. Nakitty Channel also went to the event, I think he should have videos up soon~

Well, there wasn't anything much going on that day, since I was at the merchandise booth for the most part. And even if I advertise anything, it's sorta too late lol ;;

This Saturday is Natsumatsuri, organised by the Japanese Association Singapore. AND! FINALLY! I has connections to get advanced tickets ;u; Slap me but I never went for Natsumatsuri in the past (since 6 years ago lol) because I didn't want to queue that long to get in. But it's not confirmed if they can get the tickets, so I'll see how first. If not I also won't go again ;_; If I do manage to go I would wanna borrow a yukata from one of my friends.

AH YES. KOC II was yesterday as well~ I asked my proxy to help me get an anthology (and hopefully the novelty!!main point is the novelty) and also a whole list of items from Fall of Wall 3 (Attack on Titan ONLY event). And Quartierlatin's new doujinshi (Akiyama uke) sold out within half an hour again lol...Maybe because she brings very little stock to the event as she's not sure how many people would buy them since those are super minor pairings. I also bought a lot of doujinshi through mail-order shops. I swear, this is probably the largest amount of doujinshi I've bought in one go. When I converted my yen total I had a heart attack.

I shall end this post here, and I'll update again with Natsumatsuri if I do manage to go, and my doujinshi maybe next week when they all arrive!
